about

For this track I tapped many friends to help me sing as a backup choir.

lyrics

Love is a thing we all seek
The blessings of friendship and good company
even dictators love their family
And even murderers suckled on the teat
Loss is a thing we all must endure
if you’re rich as a king If you’re poor
The loss of loved ones humbles us all
That’s why the hero’s journey includes a fall

He loses a mentor, suffers a wound
Before he can come home and share his boon

Let me ruminate about the suffering we face
While the sky is falling We try to say grace
The tragedies they come at a dizzying pace
Why do the fates gotta take loved one’s from me
The weavers weave some loss into the tapestry
Muster your efforts its time to perform
Do what you can to whether the storm
Tie 6 orphans to yourself as the flood waters rise
Have them sing a hymn over the other children’s cries

I believe ghosts are totally real
The dead influence us in ways we can feel
They paced these boards, they walked these streets
they saw the same moon rise, they hit the same beats.
Ghosts wrote our laws, they’re in history books
They glare at us from monuments the imperialist crooks.
I’m excited to see those bastards come down
Topple the symbol burn it to the ground!

Love the ones you’re with while they are still alive
They say the body keeps the score
Well so does the bloodline
When I say collective you say trauma
All of that guilt and all of that drama
Collective TRAUMA collective Trauma
You’re the most recent issue, the current edition
The updated version seeking contrition
All that pain makes an interesting story
When I say memento: you say Mori
When I say heart, you say ACHE
Heart ACHE! HEART ACHE
This mortal coil we all will shake
Coil Shake ! Coil Shake !

The years begin racing and they pummel at your heart
With weddings and funerals you can’t tell apart
You’re a collection of atoms that knows its a collection of atoms
enjoy a walk among the atoms
To watch the atoms set and the atoms rise
And enjoy a cool glass of atoms
You turned some atoms it made your atoms start
You manipulated some atoms and it broke a heart
Step through the absence of atoms after turning a knob
You influenced some atoms and they called it a job’
Though you had anxiety you’d do it all wrong
You manipulated atoms and they called it a song

Out of all the atoms who have ever existed or were known
This collection raps and has imposter syndrome
Atoms make up everything you’ll ever hear or see
I guess that’s why they call it the Addams family.

(Why Why Why do we have to die?
I'm so glad that we are together
I wish our love could last forever)

Those scribbles on the cave wall
That you inscribed, that’s the proof
That you occupied time
And we never get see all that we seek
But some babies are taken before they learn to speak
If you have the opportunity to learn and to make
Be grateful for your little slice of universe cake
Don’t complain there’s not enough icing
Just a warm bowl of rice? That's fucking enticing!

Bless us and grant us grace
As we hurl on a fragile wet rock in space
we are so lucky Its incredible
That we have a planet that’s inhabitable
don’t be passively grateful: shout it: Demand it
When I say inhabitable you say planet
inhabitable PLANET INHABITABLE PLANET!
